I'm running mysql on a windows 2003 server machine. I cannot connect to the mysql server from a remote windows machine (which is not on the same network). It gives me the following error.

Can't connect to mysql server on 'server name'

The user priviliges in the grant tables are % and localhost with a password. The db and host tables are empty.

mysqld is running and I can connect from localhost .

I cant seem to figure out the problem, is it a security issue with the OS ? a firewall ?

Any help will be appreciated

thx
