I have a dual boot P-II 233/64 MB RAM running Win98 and RedHat 7.1 with LILO on MBR. I tried to install MySQL version 3.23.4-1 using the command, rpm -i /mnt/cdrom/RedHat/RPMS/mysql* I got a error message which said that, error:failed dependencies libreadline.so.4 and libz.so.1 needed and the installation was aborted. Then, I tried to install readline41-4-10.i386.rpm which contains the above files by rpm -U -vv /mnt/cdrom/RedHat/RPMS/readline41* I got a error message saying that , a)file /usr/lib/libhistory.so.4.1 from install of package readline41-4.1-10 conflicts with file from package readline-4.1-9. b)file /usr/lib/libreadline.so.4.1 from install of package readline41-4.1-10 conflicts with file from package readline-4.1-9. and the installation was aborted. I deleted the above two files from /usr/lib and tried installing readline41-4.1-10 again but I got the same error. Please help me to install readline and MySQL.

rpm -U readline-4.1.9 (uninstall 4.1.9 before installing 4.1.10)
