Afternoon all! My mysql table has (varchar(150)) that contains millions of variations of strings. Some of the strings look like this: "Â÷ÀÌÄÚÇÁ½ºÅ°-" How do I get rid of this stuff? When i select for left(fieldname,1)='a' it returns the above foriegn characters. They are not the same pattern every time... Thanks... |

| are they accentuated characters from other charsets ? are they MIME-encoded codes like E0 ? |

| yes : it's normal. Those strings are coming from where ? Internet ? Posted by people ? If it's the E0 and such the problem, you can write a "moulinette" (datapump) to transform them to ANSI accentuated characters If ever you show me some more data (you can send it to my email address), along with the table description and expected result, I may work something out for you. |
