Hi All, I intend to have a company run their website from their own computer (as a server) not on some web hosting company on the internet. How do I do this for the company ? |

| Oops, I've the answer just at my finger tips. For the PHP/Apache combination, install apache and simply configure it for port 80. I found extra useful information from the sites below: 1. http://lifehacker.com/software/feature/how-to-set-up-a-personal-home-web-server-124212.php 2. http://lifehacker.com/software/web-publishing/geek-to-live--how-to-assign-a-domain-name-to-your-home-web-server-124804.php Closing. |

| beware, the DynDNS solution was useful (I did this too ;-) some years ago, when people got DHCP connections (that is, their IP address could change, althought it usually did not). Moreover, DynDNS (or hebergement-dynamique.com, for instance) isn't always very quick to catch your new IP address when it changes. That was the reason why I developed my "Relanceur" tool (see at www.edainworks.com)... back in 2002. That tool makes sure the server is up and running (it may relaunch the dialer, one more piece of code we don't use any more ;-) and the necessary DynDNS program (client) is launched too... Very handy in case of a hard reboot or loss of IP connectivity (sh**t happens...) Nowadays, people use xDSL or cable connections, which come with a FIXED IP address. So no need for DynDNS any more... You can set up the DNS entries for the (bought) domain to point towards YOUR fixed IP address... Directly. I personally find more reliable the solution I explained in my tutorial at http://www.fecj.org/extra/Hosting-Your-Own-Domain-Windows-Server-Part-1-DNS-Hosting.html |

| Personally, I got all the relevant BrainBench certificates (http://www.brainbench.com). The Web Administrator and Web Developer roles are recognized by the IWA (international webmasters association, http://www.iwanet.org/ ) CIW is an intermediate level only for J2EE-centric web solutions. |
