| I am unable to get any version JRE to start in either IE6 or Firefox since I use Direct Connect via Comcast Cable and thus have no LAN or proxy files to list. Please know that your help is appreciated. Thank you | |||

| hummm... as you get a direct connection, you should have no problem... Personally I installed the "good" version Version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_06-b05) of 14,7 MB that you can find at http://www.java.com or that KBC page but I also had a nice experience with the JRE 1.4.2 I was able to use both versions with all those browsers : IE 5.0, IE 5.01, IE 5.5, IE 6.0, FX 1.0.x and FX 1.5.x so what is exactly your problem ? ;-) Just allow access on port 80 to sun servers (if you agree), don't enter proxy settings, and it should run. don't you run any firewall ? I hope you don't have the Win XP one active... You've a discussion for Mozilla Firefox at http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=26507 To eventually test your Java installation, try those links : http://www.javatester.org/version.html Java Testing with Details http://www.bodo.com/javame.htm Java & Javascript Testing Best regards |
