I am not at all into programming. I am writing to know if it is possible to automate the task of getting updates from the web for example I am working with tons of Cicso Routers and switches and the software in these devices is called the IOS for which a new version is frequently available and is availble for download to users. I want to know if it is possible to create a program which would enable automatic download of the latest version on to my tftp server whenver I click on a hyperlink say 'Downlaod latest version'. I dont mind running the .exe file and installing the update but just want automatic downloads from the web. Please comment, even if you can suggets soemthing similar even if not exactly same. I was thinking if we could write something liek 'macros' in Word to combine a couple of tasks or something like combining a set of commnads in UNIX and execute them with a single command. |

| yes, of course. All you need is a program that perdiodically checks for the presence of updates, and then warns you or gets them. Via the web from Windows, it's just a robot like "RobotOuaibe", via the web from a webserver, it's a matter of PHP scripts I already have (but then execution of the updates' programs is problematic) I suggest to only get the updates' files, and be warned (alert, email, logfile, whatever) that a new one is in the repository It should be easy (but long depending on the parsing necessary to "recognize" new updates being available), but people like me can do this for some bucks |
