Thanks for your attention and best regards ;-) --- Spanish and German below --- Bonjour à tous et tout particulièrement à nos nouveaux membres de par le monde. | Hi, i've recently registered in this forum. I believe everyone likes to register in such forums, to improve their knowledge by asking questions and helping others, and of course to gain points, get to the top ranking experts, get some certificate (as i heard from a friend u give certificate to the highest scoring experts) which is something good to put on CV , or to show to your boss. I believe the reason why some register and don't use the site much is because there aren't many open questions to answer. For ex., consider my case, i know asp/ asp.net, Vb , C# , and there isn't any question to answer. After u login several times, and find no questions , it's discouraging. And considering i only have 20 points, i can't even feel free to ask any question, cs the number of questions i can ask is very limited. I suggest that you give recently registered users more than 20 points, this way they can feel free to ask questions, which will also increase the number of open questions available, and give users the opportunity to give more answers. Thank you |

| personally, I return in here every three days or so. I've a lot to ask with all my LAMP servers (and some WAMP too). I'm currently struggling to have an Apache 2.2 + PHP 5 + MySql 5 working as nicely as my previous Apache 1.3 + PHP 4.4.3 + MySql 5 it's not that easy ;-) You are so far the first ASP.Net person I see on this site's. It's good for both us and you ; I hope more people will ask ASP.Net questions for your leasure to answer them ;-) PS : I too didn't get any Answer so far ; I'm only Asking questions. I gain enough points for regularly asking MY questions by simply visiting the site once or twice per week (for maximum gain, you can visit once per day : +20 Question Points each time) have fun around and TTYL |

| I am just a amatuer php hack writer. For me it is fun but I don't know much so I have been reading for the past few days to learn more. So I have to apologize in advance if all my questions are rudimentary. | |||

| This is a great site for research, but the search engine is not working. This is very important for me. Other thing is the difficulty to answer any question at all. First because there are many very good developers ready to do so much better then me, so I watch and learn. But of course, if I run out of credits, I will hardly log in again since I'm not here to compete for the points, but of course I will come back as a visitor to research if I have any doubts. In my case, instead of only questions, you could create a wiki, to embrace the most common doubts in small debates. |

| hello, and thank you for the feedback. Your text calls some remarks from me : 1) we won't do a wiki. The site is already looking like a forum (a Q&A one, ie answers are not hierarchically arranged and thus threads are difficult to follow). A wiki is nothing new [so-called web 2.0 vaporware if you ask me] nor useful IMHO. It's good for wikipedia and the like... 2) I don't understand "if I run out of credits, I will hardly log in again" since logging in again is the main way to get more points. 3) could you give us examples of search terms that "don't work" ? The search engine works, ***but*** is constrained in two ways : - the short term list of MySql - it won't display anything when there are too many results (to save bandwidth) |

| I came to EEE via the classic route - disgruntled EE user. I used to enjoy getting answers quickly to my problems (I am a single handed IT pro covering 150 remote users and 15 internal ones, infrastructure, development, SQL DBA etc etc etc - so this sort of thing is really useful as I am expected to be the expert in everything). I also enjoyed answering them too. Since EE 'upgraded' to the better interface a year or so ago, I never get answers and find trying to find Qs to answer a headache I can't be bothered with. Found this while reading forum reviews. Suggestions: Not sure about the colour scheme, I am OK with it as I have good eyesight etc but I am not sure it is very accessable. Need a few more categories eg Networking, Linux |

| I think you guys are too efficient. :) I joined because I didn't know what I was doing(I think VGR probably still shakes his head at some of my questions :) So for me, I don't come here as often as I used to because I don't struggle with PHP or Unix or MySQL as much as I used to. Thanks VGR! | |||

| I joined because expertsrt.net has been down for a few weeks now and i happened to have a question to ask (which does not happen very often). I also miss VGR's grumpy attitude. BTW, i could not find an HTML section... Now gimmy lots of POINKS. | |||

| I've registered because the idea of making a free EE like site where unregistered users can peek for useful info deserves it (even when it's known how to trick EE to view responses). I usually spend many time solving the problems (maybe searching in sites like this) asking for last resource, but always feel curious about how experts would optimize something. On the other hand, I would leave some real feedback here about making the design much usable (I recommend the reading of Prioritizing Web Usability by Jakob Nielsen & Hoa Loranger, you'll find that EEE caught a number times), may it be the reason for low membership after 5 years. I'll be around. |

| Personally, I don't think low-count high-quality membership is that of a problem. We don't want to become large enough to be bought by Microsoft, Google or Yahoo either ;-) The increase in frequentation over the past 2 or 3 years is "dramatic", as our english speakers say. That's good enough for me. No more complaints about the colour choice since a loooong time, so ay-be our users are finally accustomed to them ;-) I checked the site for WAI accessibility and it seems it's already at a basic compliant level, with some problems preventing it from being compliant with the "minimum level recommended by the EU" (whatever this means). Some of the problems are wrong given the DTD we use (and until an HTML 5.0 standard gets published ;-) As for "useability", I still think the layout is pretty usable : after all, it's only a navigation bar at the top with a search & login, categories on the left, display in the middle... Nothing too bizaarre. I hope we will continue this way on the coming years. |

| A brand new design with a clean interface would make the usage of this site more productive. | |||

| I was logging into EE and accidentally type this url. I like the open format you have here. I'm looking forward to supplying some answers and maybe asking some q questions. |

| I use Chrome, Firefox, Mozilla and Safari, but all of the work I do on web pages must work on Internet Explorer for commercial reasons. Right EEE doesn't work on Internet Explorer, which (I think) marginalizes it. Is this site about help or is it about being politically correct? If it is really about help, then you should help everybody. | |||

| Well, lewko, this is really a free community of "experts" helping each other for free. The website works with IE6+ (it even works with IE 5.01) except for minor layout problems (hence the warning). People coming here using IE have the choice between suffering from minor layout problems (not preventing useability of the system overall : registering, logging in, reading, asking and answering Questions) or install a second browser. I also have to use IE6 at work because our company IT is a shame, but I use it only for one old IBM software system. The rest of the time I use FX (3.52 now) that I installed (and in fact a lot of people installed it, because IE doesn't even work with some of our new systems ;-) HTH |

| OK. I noticed on the login message it says you will have an improved IE interface, which is OK. It does also say that IE will not display correctly, which is somewhat true, but, at least to me, the IE screen is totally usable. I also see that most this site is not geared to newbies, which is also OK. It's hard to satisfy everybody. Good luck and good work. I'll be checking back often. |

| Hi All, I came here thanks 2 help 4rm VGR & ever since its really bin nice contributing to posts, getting help and more information. Now while there are quite some persons coming to check EE.org, I think some of them get discouraged when they can't a section that covers the issues they r involved in. Secondly, some who visit less frequently or make less use of this site seem to be satisfied with only one technology and r not interested (or consider it uninteresting) in venturing to experience/learn some other technology. I had this issue and had to overcome it as I started having more business opportunities and challenges. I must say my first encounter with VGR and his vast knowledge base is some great source of inspiration 4 me. Finally, let me suggest that having a wap version of this site would be great so people can use it on their mobiles. This morning, I could not get online quickly but had a phone whose memory could not accomodate this site. The site colors (4 me) are O.K; More sections should be added and posts (like I suggested earlier) should be made editable/removable. Like 2 say WELLDONE 2 the Engineers 4 this site, site members. Also wishing all a fulfilling year 2010 ahead. |
