Wouldn't it be appropiate to also have one more category "MFC/Visual C++" ?

Also, Austria is not listed as a country in the registration form.

yes, but we lack experts to answer MFC questions. I will open the new section ASAP ; let's hope people will be able to answer questions there :D

as for Austria, I'm relatively surprised but will do the necessary in case it's missing and it failed to appear to me ;-)

Usually, I "spot" new countries and take action accordingly. I may have missed Austria, but be assured it's not intentional ;-)

more on this later

don't hesitate to write in Deutsch, and the interface is badly translated feel free to suggest changes.

I'd be glad to help as much as I can.

What do those points mean, how to achieve them and why would they be of interest ? I couldn't find anything about points in "the help"

points ? they are "question points" : just kind of a currency in trading knowledge. Let's suppose you've a very difficult question, or one you want a very fast answer to, or one for which you want the best quality of detail : you would indicate this by giving "away" question points for a big amount, say 200 to 500 (there's no limit IMHO). In return, once the question is answered to your ***full*** satisfaction, you will reward the person who answered (of more than one person, by "splitting" the points) with those points.

In return, the QPoints they earned by helping you will enable them to ask Questions.

It's a "fair trade" system because even if you don't contribute at the start, you gain 20 QPoints each day you come in. This is the equivalent of one "easy question" per day ! At some point, you'll get "QPoints" by answering questions.

Some people never spend any points asking questions. They just help others. points have no monetary value or counterpart.

have fun ;-)

Österreich added (you may not need to change your profile, but verify please ;-)

MFC/Visual C++ will be added now

All my questions have 0 points. Why ? Moreover, why can't I offer points when I'm "asking" a question ?
By: Flavius Date: 01/07/2007 08:45:46 English  Type : Comment
oh, sorry, now I observed it's the feedback section where you can't gain/offer points.
By: VGR Date: 01/07/2007 13:55:13 English  Type : Comment
yes. "questions" in the Feedback zone are automatically closed and set to zero points. [some introduced topics in that feedback zone, with points to gain : that's feedback we need from the users ; the feedback given (while uncalled for) by the users is not considered a question per se] and doesn't cost any points, of course]

BTW the fact they appear closed is part of a problem : sometimes I don't see the new posts in that zone because they don't appear "new".

we should try to improve this a bit in the near future.
