Hello Sir, Thanks for the flash drive help you gave. I recently upgraded the version of Windows Media player on a system (having Ram size of 112Mb) from media player 9.0 to 10.0 but discovered that when playing music files from either CDs or in the system, it starts to SKIP. I decided 2 check the Task Manager and always saw that when this happens, the memory consumption is 100%. I downgraded the version from 10.0 to 9.0 but the problem persisted. Today, I increased the Ram size, hoping that it will stop the SKIPPING but it didn't. What is the problem and how can it be rectified? SYSTEM INFORMATION ================== O.S - WINDOWS XP |

| you shouldn't have done that :D WMP 10 and WMP 9 are known to not be "downgradable". It's also a loooong history for Microsoft of providing products that don't uninstall cleanly, easily and completely. That's probably why I mainly use non-microslop software :D The music skips/chokes when CPU is at 100% : that's normal. It's a consequence, not a cause. Now for your problem, first launch the task manager (right-click in task bar) and check which application is in "not responding" state and/or which process consumes 100% of the CPU ; check also that you've enough memory left (tip : display column "virtual memory" along with "RAM consumed" in the process view) regards |
